OSPOLYDECIDES2021: DammyGold,Bengee; I Know The Winner

#OSPOLYDECIDES: Ospoly Student Politics

By: Ayobami Abidoye

Me: Hmmm, the search has begun in ospoly SuGs,  What battled me most is how will ospolites vote for the competent leaders.

Mate: AYOBAMI 'kinni show' every aspirant were already shaking the table, it's only during election like this every aspirant become professor, masters every beat of English grammar to convince electorate.

Student Union Governments were established in various institutions of higher learning to promote unity, orderliness and smooth relationship between students, school authorities and the state or Federal Government.

It is unfortunate that most SUGs in Nigerian Polytechnics do not know the key objectives for which they were established.

This is why some student governments see the freedom they enjoy as an opportunity to cause mayhem and anarchy in their institutions. It is true that there are legitimate issues  of poor service and maladministration for which students should feel genuinely aggrieved, but it has since been proven that violence is not a solution to any problem. Violent protests in Nigerian higher institutions have always led to destruction of properties and disruption of academic studies.

History would not forget how Ospoly Medical Centre were vandalized during a peaceful protest over the death of #AMINU SHEU. Most often, students themselves  end up bearing the brunt of their actions as they are compelled to pay for property destroyed during such protests. Institutions at times increase fees as a way of punishing students and recovering funds to repair damaged facilities.

Instead of violent protests, peaceful demonstration is definitely a more viable option in getting authorities to listen to students’ grievances and explore opportunities for dialogue.

Again,Clinging to the postulation of the Greek philosopher, Plato, When he says "One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors"-(Extracted)

More than ever in the political history of Osun State Polytechnic Iree Student Union, the upcoming SUG election has thrust into Ospolites consciousness, the readiness and willingness of each Alliance Standard-Bearer in the like of Bamigboye Damilola (DammyGold), Irinoye Benjamin (Bengee), jostling to succeed the President Ajao Samson(Impeccable).

However, after careful examine the political topography and Plans of the Ospoly, Studying relevant moves by each Aspirant, and consider the level of engaging the Student populace with the Spirit of Aluta, then I make a resolution that the winner of the upcoming Student Union Government Election will be no one, but "THE MESSIAH OF OSPOLITES".

Thanks for reading, I didn't Know who is going to win, but, I actually know ospolites have the will to choose the leader they want. It's is my pleasure to tell all my great readers that, as regards Ospoly Politics, this will be my last write-up,wish everyone success in their Political career. And to all HND2 Mass Communication, I love you guys a lot.

Meet at the top of our career.

I Wept After Reading This Judge's Sentence On A 15 Year Old Boy

... _Very Thought Provoking_ This was a fifteen year old boy.... He was caught stealing bread from a store. On trying to escape from the hold of the guard, a shelf of the store was also broken. *The judge heard the crime and asked the boy, “Did you really steal something, a loaf of bread and cheese?”* The boy responded by looking down.;- “Yes.” Judge: - “Why?” Boy: - “I needed it.” Judge: - “Couldn't you have bought?” Boy: - “There was no money.” Judge: - “Take it from the family.” Boy: - “There is only a mother in the house. Sick and unemployed, Bread and Cheese were also stolen for the same.” Judge: - “You don't do anything?” Boy: - “Used to wash a car. When I took a day off to take care of my mother, I was fired.” Judge: - “Don’t you ask someone for help?” Boy: - “Had left the house since morning, went to about fifty (50) people, but no help; so, I decided to take this step at the very end.” When the arguments ended, the judge began to pronounce the verdict; ... “the theft a...

Which Way Forward, Ospoly?

In 2019, as I stepped foot on the soil of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, for my Higher National Diploma, I felt like the happiest guy on earth. It was a homecoming for me to experience education in my state. The beautiful campus entrance gave me goosebumps, and the motto "Excellence In Character and Technology" reignited my spirit of determination. I told myself I wanted to do things differently here. Like every new student, I started my journey strongly, focusing on what mattered and ignoring what didn't. I adapted to every situation along the way. The turning point came during my first Continuous Assessment Test. I could hear a voice loudly within the four walls of PLT1: 'If you don't have the handout, you should leave the class,' Oga said. I couldn't immediately figure out what was going on. We all moved out, and surprisingly, the majority were students who hadn't completed their National Diploma at OSPOLY. It was strange! I kept laughing, but befo...

Wilderness Of Joy

Wilderness Of Joy Mixed emotions managing thoughts, The good and bad days in our imagination, In the wilderness of dreams, Comes the hope for joy. Blind pets working in the dark, Lightning of joy sparking at night, In the wilderness of careers, Comes the hope for success. Walking down the street of hope, Two friends look like kings in their homes, In the wilderness of hope, Comes the imagination for hope. Abidoye Thomas 09/03/2024 Nigeria Review of "Wilderness Of Joy" by Abidoye Thomas: "Abidoye Thomas' poem 'Wilderness Of Joy' beautifully captures the essence of mixed emotions and the highs and lows of life's journey. Through vivid imagery and thoughtful metaphors, the poet navigates the complexities of hope, success, and imagination.  The contrasting elements of light and darkness, dreams and reality, create a poetic landscape that resonates with the reader.  The poem's simplicity and depth make it a compelling reflection on the human experience a...
