  Nigerian troops raid IPOB camp in Agbochia forest, kill 7, arrest 5 Troops of 6 Division, Nigeria Army, in a joint security operation have killed seven IPOB militants after raiding their camp in Agbochia Forest in Eleme and Oyigbo LGA of Rivers state. Sources said the troops, led by Brig Gen MD Danja also arrested five other armed IPOB militants. During the clearance operation, the joint security team comprising men of the Nigeria Police, operatives of the Department of State Security Service (DSS) and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) engaged the IPOB members in a gun battle. An intelligence officer involved in the operation disclosed that the troops did not record any casualty on their side.  Police Arrest Suspected Highway Robbers in Osun The Osun Police Command on Friday said it had arrested two suspected members of a highway robbery gang after they were identified by one of their victims in Ile-Ife.   No plan to increase petrol Price in June-FG DESPITE pressure, the Federal Government, Friday, said it would not increase the price of Premium Motor Spirit, PMS, in June 2021 in order not to disrupt ongoing engagement with labour. The Nigeria Governors’ Forum, NGF, had in their virtual meeting, Wednesday, considered the report of a committee headed by Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, and accepted its recommendation backing full deregulation of petrol price, which has been rising due mainly to the relatively high price of crude oil in the global market. The forum which puts the pump price of the product at N385 per litre had also recommended that the federal government should buy 113 buses to cushion the effects of the price increase.      Two suspects have been arrested after gunmen attacked St.Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church, Malumfashi on Thursday. During the attack, a priest, Reverend father Alphonsus Bello, died and another one, Reverend father Joe Keke, abducted. It was learnt that the gunmen invaded the church compound around 11 pm and headed for the residences of the two priests located inside the compound. Bello, who was said to be in his 30s, was reported to have initially resisted attempts by the gunmen to abduct him but he was overpowered. His remains were later found by the police inside farmland behind the Catechetical Training School Malumfashi early Friday morning. Breaking: Bandits abduct 2 Catholic priests in Katsina, one dead

…One still missing Bandits attacked St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church Malunfashi, Katsina State,  yesterday, and abducted two priests . The corpse of one of the priests was found behind the Church premises this morning while one is still missing. This was disclosed in a statement by the Communications Director,  Diocese of Sokoto, Fr Chris Omotosho. According to the statement,  “last night (20/05/2021) one of our parishes – St. Vincent Ferrer Catholic Church Malunfashi, Katsina state – was attacked by unknown gunmen. 2 priests were kidnapped – *Frs Joe Keke & Alphonsus Bello*. Fr Joe Keke the former parish priest, now in residence is in his late 70s. Fr Alphonsus Bello (parish priest) is in his 30s. This morning the body of Fr Alphonsus was found (lifeless) in the farmland behind the Catechetical Training School, Malunfashi. The whereabouts of Fr. Joe Keke is still unknown. No contact has been made thus far.”

 Okowa urges Judges to maintain professional integrity Delta Governor Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has charged Judges of the state’s judiciary to continue to maintain a high level of professional integrity, fairness, and credibility in the dispensation of justice. Okowa gave the charge at a valedictory court session to mark the retirement of Chief Judge of the state, Justice Marshal Umukoro, held at High Court 1 Complex, Asaba on Wednesday. He said that the advice was necessary as it would go a long way in helping the judiciary to retain the confidence of the people, adding that he was, however, proud of the judges in the state. Okowa congratulated Justice Umukoro for his achievements in the six years of his headship of the judiciary in the state administration and stated that he was truly excited about the achievements recorded by him during the period.
