Rape: A Silent Epidemic

By; Okunola Promise                   The term rape originated from the Latin word, rapere (supine stem raptum), "to snatch, to grab, to carry off.  Rape was initially considered a crime only in terms of the property violation of another man.  For instance, ancient Hebrew women who were raped were considered defiled, and stoned to death. The first case of rape was the case of a young girl called Mathura, Mathura was a young orphan tribal girl living with one of her two brithers. Rape

By Akerele Sewa Deborah     Rape, unlawful sexual activity, most often involving sexual intercourse, against the will of the victim through force or the threat of force or with an individual who is incapable of giving legal consent because of minor status, mental illness, mental deficiency, intoxication, unconsciousness, or deception. In many jurisdictions, the crime of rape has been subsumed under that of sexual assault.  Rape was long considered to be caused by unbridled sexual desire, but it is now understood as a pathological assertion of power over a victim The legal definition of rape has changed substantially since the late 20th century. The traditional definition was narrow with respect to both gender and age; rape was an act of sexual intercourse by a man with a woman against her will. As rape is now understood, a rapist or a victim may be an adult of either gender or a child. Although rape can occur in same-sex intercourse, it is most often committed by a male against a femal

I love This Quote 👉By CHINUA ACHEBE

Naijefate Blog _A man who calls his kinsmen to a feast does not do so to redeem them from starving. They all have food in their own houses. When we gather in the moonlight at village ground, it is not because of the moon. Every man can see it in his own compound. We come together because it is good for kinsmen to do so. Therefore let us continue with the team spirit and enjoy the power of togetherness. Let's smile not because we don't have problems but because we are stronger than the problems_.... Alone I can smile but together we can laugh Alone  I can enjoy but together we can celebrate Alone I can talk but together we can speak Let's promote things that unite us than things that cause disunity Unity is Great Strength Everyone is important according to their own unique purpose.   Never look down on any body unless you are admiring their shoes show people love, depression is killing

Choose What You Fight.

Naijefate Blog .. I once met a very successful business woman and I asked her to share her secret with me.  She smiled and said to me..  I started succeeding when I started leaving small fights for small fighters.  I stopped fighting those who gossiped about me... I stopped fighting over unnecessary issues with my spouse... I stopped fighting for attention... I stopped fighting to meet up with public expectation... I left such fights for those who have nothing else to fight... “And I started fighting for my vision, my dreams, my ideas and my destiny. Then I started winning big". That was the day I gave up on small fights. Some fights are not worth your time. Fight to make your visions and dreams come alive! Fight the good fight of faith!  Fight for your destiny not for your ego! Entrepreneurs shouldn’t have time for unnecessary fights! Visionaries don’t cluster their mind with nonsense bickering! Always ask, what is this fight adding to my destiny, my goal, my progress?  Choose wh

#OSPOLYDECIDES: Ospoly Student Politics By: Ayobami Abidoye Me: Hmmm, the search has begun in ospoly SuGs,  What battled me most is how will ospolites vote for the competent leaders. Mate: AYOBAMI 'kinni show' every aspirant were already shaking the table, it's only during election like this every aspirant become professor, masters every beat of English grammar to convince electorate. Student Union Governments were established in various institutions of higher learning to promote unity, orderliness and smooth relationship between students, school authorities and the state or Federal Government. It is unfortunate that most SUGs in Nigerian Polytechnics do not know the key objectives for which they were established.  This is why some student governments see the freedom they enjoy as an opportunity to cause mayhem and anarchy in their institutions. It is true that there are legitimate issues  of poor service and maladministration for which students should feel genuinely aggr

AYEKOOTO: The Journey I Will Not Embark On Again (NYSC dreams)

SERIES A (Dairy of a Final Year Student of The Osun State Polytechnic IREE) By: Abidoye Thomas Ayobami It’s final year- and I think have finally got the hang of this whole school things for awhile. You know what time you have to be at the library if you actually want a decent seat , you know which lectures are safe to miss (according to some of my friends, all of them), and you know the ins and outs of most of the buildings (apart from Motion Ground and Rectors Office), because you still can’t work out how to actually leave when the lecturer tells you to all leave from the back). You’re feeling pretty cool and confident about the whole thing. Until i walk into my second semester of the last session in OSPOLY campus, and i realise- this will be my last first semester of the Polytechnic. Education. It should be noted that Until you start reflecting on your boring days with your pals, only to realise that this was likely to be the last ever full school memories that you will ever have. Th
